Motivation and outlook

During my PhD, I realised my motivations lay not in leading new discoveries but rather in bridging the space between research and its applications for healthcare and society. There was a gap in communication that I wanted to explore. This intrigue led me into medical communications — applying my academic experience of high attention-to-detail in analysis and scientific writing — and since 2015 I’ve been working as a professional medical writer.

By developing content adapted to the needs of each audience and message, while upholding accuracy and integrity, I’ve experienced many diverse and rewarding projects. A lot of my experience has been in agencies in partnership with medical affairs clients from pharmaceutical companies. More recently, I worked in a medical organisation to directly serve physicians and healthcare professionals.

Now being self-employed, I enjoy developing positive relationships with my clients, working together to use my skills and experience to maximise the impact of our projects. I offer services in medical and scientific communications and regulatory writing.

My work

Most of my work is confidential and specific examples can't be shared.

However, my Portfolio lists activities and deliverables that I am familiar with, and on my Insights page you will find articles that demonstrate my writing ability and understanding of the industry.

Publications that acknowledge my medical writing support are listed here.

Rheumatology

Oncology

Haemophilia

Rare diseases

Therapy area expertise

Medical writers must adapt to the content needs of any project, so I’ve worked on a range of healthcare landscapes and am open to projects in all therapy areas.

The bulk of my experience has been in oncology, rheumatology and rare diseases such as haemophilia, but my work has also covered cardiovascular disease, dentistry, infection, immunology, kidney disease, liver disease, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, obstetrics, orthopaedics and surgery.
